Dan Hale opened the doors in 2004 after eleven years training under a prominent sign maker. 22 years later the shop still runs on the same idea: the person who designs your sign should be the person who installs it.

Eleven years at the bench
Dan Hale begins working and training with a prominent sign maker in Hatfield, Massachusetts.

2004
Hale Custom Signs opens
After eleven years learning the trade, Dan decides it is time to form his own identity, and opens the shop in a small garage space in Turners Falls.

2000s
Outgrowing the garage
The shop quickly outgrows the garage and moves to Montague City Road in Greenfield as the work grows by reputation.

The French King Highway shop
The business moves to 277 French King Highway in Gill — taking the shop from 1,500 to over 2600 square feet.

We collaborate with clients and regional designers early, translating print-focused artwork into signage that survives construction and permitting.
We come back
New lamps, updated store hours, or a complete sign replacement — our crew provides service and support on-site, including for signs we did not build.

on the French King Highway
In 2014 the business moved to 277 French King Highway in Gill — nearly doubling the bench from 1,500 square feet to over 2600. It is where the glass gets bent, the cedar gets blasted, the leaf gets laid and the vinyl gets printed.
